William McDonough's work on new cities for China will be of interest to anyone in the business of promoting sustainable urban growth in developing countries. His work recognises each of the three main pillars of sustainability: (i) environmental; (ii) social; and (iii) economic sustainability, as demonstrated by his outline of the new city at the end of this speech. Whilst the rest of the speech is reasonably entertaining, it's this bit you really have to watch.
